Dear Dr. Kim:
I am happy to confirm my participation in your research project focusing on the role of reactive oxygen species in chronic diseases including insulin resistance and diabetes. As you know, I have a long-standing interest in this research area and my research team has considerable technical expertises which will be relevant to your research activities. I am willing to serve as a consultant to your research center and also willing to provide the opportunity for your graduate students for advanced training in my laboratory.
I look forward to collaborating with you on your exciting research project.

Dear Dr. Kim:
It would be my pleasure and honor to collaborate with you and participate in the research program you are developing. As you know, we have a lot of experience in studying insulin resistance and other related metabolic parameters in both animals and model cell lines. Moreover, your research plans sound genuinely interesting. As for hosting students, there is always room for talented, eager young scientists, particularly when recommended by someone I know such as you and your colleagues.
I look forward to our collaboration.

Dear Dr. Kim,
Thank you for your kind email. I would be pleased and honored to collaborate with your group. The most efficient way to proceed would be for you to email me a draft letter outlining the points you want to have stated in my letter. I will then write the letter and return it to you on my institutional letterhead, either by FedEx or as a pdf attachment to an email, whichever you would prefer.
Best of luck on your proposal,
With best regards,
Michael Freeman

Dear Dr. Kim,
I'm glad to hear that your studies involving cyclophilin A are working out well. As for my role as a consultant, this sounds like an exciting opportunity and it will be a pleasure for me to serve as a consultant in researches. The details on your proposed plan, such as granduate students working in my lab, however will have to work out later for its feasibility. I've got a couple of grant deadlines for tomorrow, but I'll be sure to get you the letter by 17th.
Best regards,
Jason K. Kim, Ph.D.
