1. in ER of RE cell
heme (mainly from RBC) → (by heme oxygenase) → biliverdin → (by biliverdin reductase) → bilirubin
2. in blood
bilirubin-albumin complex
3. in hepatocyte
bilirubin (B) → (by bilirubin glucuronyltransferase) → bilirubin monoglucuronide (BMG) → (by bilirubin glucuronyltransferase) → bilirubin diglucuronide (BDG)
4. in bile
BDG
5. in intestinal lumen
BDG → (by bacteria) → urobilinogen (UBG)→ (1) or (2).
(1) → to portal vein (reabsorption) → a) or b).
a) → to hepatocyte → to bile (reexcretion) → to intestine →(to 5.) : "cyclic circulation"
